Dr. Ramesh Kumar Sunar, DMD

President

Having grown up in Nepal, Dr. Ramesh Kumar Sunar has witnessed the strict Nepalese caste system first-hand. This injustice and prejudice against “Dalits” fueled his mission to combat these social issues surrounding the unfair treatment of people based on their social status. Having completed dental school in 2001 from New York University, he continues to champion the cause against ignorance of this prevalent issue. Currently a notable dentist based in Charlotte, NC, his constant advocacy for indiscriminate educational opportunities has played an imperative role in the continued success of both PDRC Nepal and PDRCi.

Rajendra Senchuri

Founding President and Chair, Board of Director

Mr. Rajendra Senchuri is the founding president and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PDRC International. Hailing from Pokhara, Nepal, Mr. Senchuri completed a degree in medical technology from Morgan State University. Aside from his professional career, Mr. Senchuri is devoted to and is actively engaged in fulfilling the educational needs of underprivileged students in Nepal. Through the years before and since PDRCi’s founding, he has made multiple financial and educational contributions to the youth in Nepal.

Chandrakala Poudel

General Secretary

Born in Assam, a northeastern region of India, Chandrakala Poudel serves as the general secretary of PDRCi. She holds a bachelors from Dibrugarh University and a masters from Tribhuvan University, both in Economics — and specializes in economic development. With more than a decades worth of experience in the international development field, she is devoted to serving those in need. Since her relocation to the US in 2006, she has continuously enjoyed volunteering and working with the community.

Dr. Dan Bishwakarma

Board Member

Dr. Dan Bishwakarma was born and raised in a remote village in midwestern Nepal. Having little access to education growing up, he ultimately completed an intermediate degree in Science from the Amrit Science Campus and a bachelors in Medical Science from Tribhuvan University. He then moved to the US in 2001 to continue his medical education, ultimately completing his residency in 2008. He is a partner with PDRCi and collaborates with other board members on the administrative duties.

Bidur BK

Board Member

Mr. Bidur BK holds a degree in Computer Science from the Maharishi University of Management and in Computer Engineering from the Institute of Engineering in Nepal. Since completing his education, he has been working as a software engineer for Deloitte. Having received aid and counsel from PDRC Nepal, he is committed to serving PDRC as much as it did him. He is a founding member of PDRCi, and has since served as it’s spokesperson at conferences such as the United Nations General Assembly.

Bhim Bahadur BK, M.Ed.

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Bhim Bahadur BK is the Chief Executive Officer of PDRC International, with more than 20 years of experience in the professional development field. Prior to his time with PDRCi, he has worked as the Country Director of UK based international organization, Chance for Change and the Executive Director of Feminist Dalit Organizations, both of which have missions similar to that of PDRCi. With a background in IT education, he is no stranger to mentorship and student supervision. Through his role, he employs his expertise in administration and project organization to keep PDRCi afloat so that as a non-profit, it can help the most number of disadvantaged individuals. 

Gyanu Gautam Luintel, Ed.D

Education Coordinator

Ms. Luintel has been involved with PDRCi since 2021 as Education Coordinator. She worked for more than a decade in academic institutions and non-profits in Nepal. Through her engagement with non-profits in Nepal, she promoted social, cultural, economic, and political rights of a diverse group of people, particularly women, Indigenous People, victims of armed conflict, LGBTIQ communities, and Dalits (so-called untouchables). She holds a master’s degree in Conflict Resolution and Library and Information Science, Post-graduate Diploma in Women Studies, and a doctor in Education from Texas A&M University Kingsville (TAMUK), Texas, United States. Her doctoral research focused on heritage language maintenance among the Nepali immigrant communities in the United States. In addition, her research interests include educational attainment and achievement of culturally and linguistically diverse immigrant groups in the United States. She has taught courses to pre-service teachers while pursuing her doctoral degree at TAMUK. 

Jessica Wang

Community Partnerships Coordinator

Based in Baltimore, MD, Jessica Wang is a second-year undergraduate student at Dartmouth College. She is interested in pursuing a career at the crossroads of business and medicine. She is also passionate about education inequities and how to best combat them. Currently on the pre-medical track, Jessica hopes to major in Economics and attend graduate school to earn an MD/MBA degree. She looks forward to working with PDRCi and is eager to help make a difference in the world.

Meeting with Obama Foundation:

PDRC vice chair and the international program director of PDRC International, USA attended a networking happy hour and conversation meeting with Obama Foundation’s executive director Bernadette Meehan at the Obama Foundation, USA on date. Meehen shared many useful information about the foundation and how it is impacting the lives of civic leaders through its work. She also touched upon on some personal insights during her time at the White House.

Mr. BK shared the situation of youth in South Asia in general and Nepal specifically and demanded the possibility of future collaboration and network. OF executive director instructed his international affair analyst Nimita Uberoi to explore the possibility of the partnership with PDRCi? This opportunity has presented a good learning in relation to empowering civic leaders in the country.

This networking meeting was also accompanied by the Young Professional of the Americans (YPA), Princeton in Latin America (PiLA) and the Young Professionals in Foreign Policy New York (YPFP NY). The program was moderated by YPA’s executive director Alana Tummino.

Meeting with the Huffington Post

PDRC vice chair met with Jo Confino, executive editor of the Huffington Post, NY. He is he renowned journalist in USA. Previously, he also served as the executive editor of the Guardian and chairman/editorial director of Guardian Sustainable Business.

Mr. Jo expressed his excitement to work with PDRCi in future. Further, he has also promised to influence his personal and professional networks garner support for PDRCi provided the later presented some concrete ideas in near future.
