Chandrakala Poudel

Mrs. Chandru Poudel was born in Assam, a north east region of India. Upon graduation with Honors in Economics from Dibrugarh University, she completed her Master’s degree in Economics at Tribhuvan University.
She started her career working in the GTZ project of Nepal, a non-governmental international organization, as a program officer. In her 10 years of tenure in GTZ, she was actively part of the local entrepreneurship development programs (EDP) where she designed and organized the trainings for both men and women.
She joined the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), where she continued EDP but in a larger scale. She was actively involved in preparing manual on EDP for local municipalities. After 2 years, she moved to DFID funded project called DEIP (Dalit Empowerment and Integration Program) as a program officer where she helped with the economic development aspect of the project.
She came to the United States in 2006. She started working at Wachovia Bank and then moved on to working as a travel agent at different travel agencies. She is working as a travel coördinator for a government contracting firm called ACET.
Even after moving to the United States, she has still been actively involved in social activities. She worked with the Nepalese American Society for Oppressed Community in Nepal (NASO). She is a firm believer in helping our society and have dedicated her whole life towards helping people in need. She loves to do volunteering in her community and neighborhood when she can.
Mrs. Poudel is a founder member of PDRC International.
